My youngest daughter will be in attendance at tonight’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, working in her new position. My husband’s alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, will be one of the teams competing for that championship. One Shining Moment will indeed be very special in our family tonight!
Over 20 years ago, the phenomena of March Madness, the annual NCAA men’s college basketball tournament, entered our household. For many years, my husband and our children would fill out their brackets, choosing the teams they liked or believed had the best chance of winning each game in each round. They lived and died with each victory or defeat, bemoaning the times when their brackets were completely ruined because their chosen teams were no longer in contention. My youngest daughter’s favorite time of the tournament even now happens after the champion has been crowned and the nets have been cut down by the victors. The network compiles a montage of video clips of some of the most outstanding, amazing, game-changing plays of the tournament.
