Last week my husband and I had the opportunity to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. I can’t say I was necessarily looking forward to the experience, but I knew it was necessary in order to gain any sort of understanding of this atrocity. The museum does a good job of laying the groundwork as to how Adolf Hitler came to power, and it was astounding how easily others capitulated to his “persuasiveness”. It was rather amazing that then-General Eisenhower insisted on viewing the now-freed concentration camps, along with his top aides, and also photographing all of it so that NO ONE could ever make the claim that the Holocaust never happened. Indeed, there are some leaders, especially in the Arab world, who have made that claim. All they would need to do to realize the ridiculousness of that claim would be to spend one hour looking at the graphic exhibits…
